What services does Damotech provide?

Damotech not only produces rack repair and protection kits but also provides a range of engineering services. We offer the following three engineering services.

  1. Conformity inspection
Damotech experts will walk the customer’s facility and provide a visual conformity inspection report of the pallet racks based on what can be observed from the warehouse floor. Observations include any damages to the columns, beams, and braces. Noting any locations of missing and/or loose anchors and safety pins. The inspectors will also check to ensure uprights are properly plumb within allowable tolerances, that pallets/materials are being loaded on the racks properly, and that protective devices such as safety bars and wire mesh decking are properly installed and in good condition. Since pallet racks are inherently complex structures with many working components, there are many other inspection points that will be recorded as well. All noted issues are given a priority rating based on their severity so that the customer can properly address the most severe issues first. Our inspection reports are reviewed and signed off by a professional engineer, and recommendations are provided to bring the rack systems back to conform to ANSI MH16.1 or CSA A344 standards (depending on the site location).
  2. Load Capacity Certification
Damotech can also provide the maximum permissible load capacities of your pallet rack systems. Our team of experts will take complete measurements of all rack systems in the facility requiring load capacity analysis. They will then determine the load capacity of the racks under the required load combinations taken from ANSI MH16.1 in the US or CSA S345 in Canada and provide a signed and stamped engineering report. This report contains the rack system locations, column & upright frame dimensions, beam dimensions and elevations, and cell capacities. Included with our load capacity reports are either load capacity plaques or labels to be applied directly on the racks, depending on which is most suitable for your needs. These are used as a visual reminder to inform operators of the permissible loads that can be placed at each location.
  3. Pallet Rack Safety Training
Damotech offers both on-site and virtual (through Microsoft Teams) pallet rack safety training sessions, which generally last between 2 to 3 hours. Our on-site sessions start with classroom training to review rack safety guidelines, including best practices, identifying and prioritizing rack-related issues, and finally, how to address these issues. We then go on to discuss how you can utilize these tools to develop a rack inspection program at your facility. The second portion of the on-site training is spent in the customer’s warehouse, giving participants a hands-on demonstration of how to inspect pallet racking and review what to look for. Our online training is also available to better serve companies that have multiple warehouse locations or companies that may be in remote areas. The online training covers the same material as the in-person training. However, it does not include the hands-on portion in the client’s warehouse.

As you can see, from rack repair and protection to our range of engineering services, Damotech truly is your one-stop shop for pallet rack safety, prevention, and repair. For more information on the engineering services Damotech provides, please visit our website here.
